An Invigorating Adaption

A couple of weeks ago, I expressed my sadness of Raf Simons leaving Jil Sander.  But last week, Christian Dior announced Simons will come on aboard as creative director. It only take a year for the decision to be made final, but a great one I must admit. The fashion media has of course written and re-reported articles on the new switcheroo.  Everyone has had a similar reaction. Exhibit A: But he's a minimalist, how will that fit in with the Dior Aesthetic? 

Stop you're worrying.  

Don't get frantic and have an anxiety attack.  

Eric Wilson from the New York Times wrote an unbiased article with some quotes from Ken Downing and Mark Holgate I very much appreciated.  

Both Ms. Fargo and Ken Downing, the fashion director of Neiman Marcus, championed Mr. Simons as the right designer for the role, citing, in Mr. Downing’s case, “the Dior-esque sensibility” of his last show. As Mr. Simons moved the house forward, Jil Sander was less and less about minimalism, Mr. Downing said.  

And Mark Holgate took the words out of my mouth. “The more original voices you have in fashion, the better,” he said. “I’m excited because I don’t know quite what to expect in July.” 

I'm cyked to see what the future holds.

A Cykic Review "A Standing Ovation in My Living Room"

 

This being Raf Simons final show for Jil Sander, I felt it would be apropos to rise to the occasion and give a standing ovation from my living room. I strongly admired Simons use of pastels for a season that tends to sink in black and greys.  His subtle coloring gave his well tailored and draped silhouettes a personality that allowed the industry to envision the women that would be adorned in this collection.  The beautiful shapes, from voluminous to fitted close to the body, showed the designers range and the talent he endures. Now, don't go insano-okay I may have-but those shoes are killing me! In a good way obv. The added metallic detail and pops of color portrayed on the sleek heels really brought together the entire vocation. This was the perfect departure collection. 

I'm upset that I couldn't have witnessed a Raf Simons for Jil Sander runway show in person.   

Let's hope his adieu will bring forth a singular Raf Simons collection. 

Please don't go to Dior.

Don't Leave Raf!

The news of Raf Simons departure from Jil Sander is killing me. His collections for Sander were redefining simplicity at its best. It has been confirmed Jil Sander will return to Jil Sander.  I don't even remember the line from when she was there.

Let's hope for the best.

The Four Seasons

I'm NOT usually a fan of Glamour's editorials, but this one got my attention.

ALL four seasons are miXed within, which reminded me of how I shop.  

I tend to buy pieces I can wear year round.

Now, if I can just get my hands on those Jil Sander pants.

As Always, Raf Takes the Gold

I can't begin to tell you HOW MUCH I respect Raf Simons and his Jil Sander virtuosity. 

He tailors

He sculpts

He illustrates

The classic crispness of his silhouettes makes me feverish and intoxicated.

It's like a TALE from the 1800's only NO Chlorea or Whooping Cough.
